3 Refreshing Drinks to Enjoy This Summer

Here in Florida, heat isn’t anything new—but we might have a few fresh ways to conquer it.

In today’s blog, we’re sharing a few cool, refreshing drinks to serve up at your next pool party or family get together. (And the best part is, you probably have most of the ingredients on hand!)

Take a look below to get started.

Watermelon & Mint Water

Fruity and delicious, watermelon is already about 92 percent water. Infuse it into a pitcher of icy cold water, and you’ve got a doubly refreshing, incredibly hydrating drink that’s sure to please on a hot summer day.

To make a batch of this sweet treat at home, start with a pitcher of cold water, about two quarts’ worth. Next, scoop out about four cups’ worth of watermelon cubes and drop those into the water. Finally, for one more touch of coolness, add six sprigs of mint to give your drink that icy “aaah” quality you really crave on a summer afternoon. Once you refrigerate this for four to five hours, the water will be infused with the flavors and ready to go!

Slushy Shirley Temple

So many of us have grown up on the classic kid-friendly “mocktail,” the Shirley Temple. Since its preparation could not be easier (add grenadine syrup to ginger ale, then top it with a maraschino cherry), it makes for an instantly satisfying summertime drink you don’t need to fuss over. Swap out the traditional cocktail glass for a plastic variety if you’re entertaining by the pool or patio. You can turn this drink even cooler by making it a “slushy,” blending the ice and ginger ale before adding the grenadine or simply opting for finely crushed ice in lieu of larger cubes. It will be that much more fun to drink and enjoy for adults and kids alike!

Strawberry Lemonade

Finally, a sweet twist on the summertime classic of lemonade. To make this delicious hybrid, you can even start with the handy base ingredient of a lemonade mix. Just blend together some sugared strawberries to create a sweet juice, then pour it right in! Serve this drink up in mason jars for easy poolside enjoyment and a rustic touch.
