5 Ways to Stay Hydrated This Summer

Hydration is key to making the most of your summer adventures. So how do you ensure that you’re getting plenty of H2O? We’ve got you covered with five simple tips—just read on!

Remind yourself to drink water (even when you’re not thirsty)

There’s nothing quite like an ice-cold glass of water on a particularly hot summer day, especially if you’ve been playing around outside. But water isn’t just for those moments when you’re parched—in fact, for overall hydration, it’s better to drink up throughout the day, whether or not you have any outdoor activities or a workout planned.

Of course, sometimes it’s easy to forget to drink plenty of H2O! So here are a few handy ways to remind yourself:

  • Use an app, or keep notes on your phone of how much water you drink a day.
  • Leave reusable water bottles in a few different spots (your nightstand, kitchen counter, work deck, etc.) so you have a visual reminder.
  • Use a good-old-fashioned sticky note!

Plan ahead

Of course, there are those times when you’ll want to have extra water on hand—when you’re hiking, biking, or even walking around the neighborhood, you’ll lose water through sweat, so bringing a bottle with you can keep you replenished. (If you have a pet coming along for the fun, pack a bowl and additional freshwater.) Even if your plans are to go swimming, and you don’t feel particularly hot, you’ll still want to get plenty of H2O.

Keep water handy

A reusable water bottle with a fun design is an easy way to keep H2O handy. If you’re lounging around in the pool, you can even pick up a drink float to store a bottle or two alongside other refreshments so you don’t need to leave the pool in order to stay hydrated.

Mix things up with fruity infusions

Everyone needs some pizzazz in their life! For pool parties and al fresco dinners with friends, you can fill drink dispensers with ice, water, and fruit slices for a sweet, infused beverage that can’t be beat.

Get water from food sources, too
