7 Energy Boosts for Busy Schedules

Whether it be in the form of a stand-up desk or gym session before work, we’re always looking for ways to balance our health with our day-to-day productivity. It’s only natural that you want to get energized following the same health-minded principle!

In today’s blog, we will be looking at seven smart ways to revitalize yourself on a busy weekday morning or during an afternoon slump.

Eat breakfast

It can, of course, be tempting to skip breakfast and replace it with a cup of coffee—but this isn’t necessarily the best idea. While that cup of coffee might get you out the door, you’ll feel the effects of that missed breakfast long before lunch rolls around. Filling up on a healthy, nutrient-packed breakfast (like one of fruits alongside your favorite protein-packed egg dish) will leave you feeling full so that you can better concentrate on the day ahead. Starting off with a smart breakfast will also encourage you to make better, more mindful choices throughout the day!

Stick to the classic mantra: “An apple a day…”

The natural sugars found in the apple will provide you with a more gradual increase of energy—which also means less chance of a “crash” later on! Many of us enjoy at least one or two cups of coffee throughout the day. While almost any time can be a great time to indulge, so long as you pair your coffee with satisfying meals as well, you’ll want to avoid drinking coffee too close to bedtime. Even if you’re not quite ready for sleep, caffeine intake that close to bed can throw off your sleep patterns and leave you feeling alert when you’d rather be asleep. To promote long-lasting energy and plenty of sleep, enjoy your cup o’ Joe during daylight hours when you need it the most.

Take a refreshing walk

The answer to daytime fatigue may be in the fridge or cupboard—but not always! Sometimes, all you need is a brisk walk around the park, neighborhood or even your office space to wake yourself up and get ready to tackle the rest of the day. Being outside is just an added bonus—green spaces and moving water are known to inspire clarity and creativity!

Don’t get stuck in a rut

To avoid falling into a tired routine, switch things up every day! You can do this by sitting in a new spot for lunch, taking a new route or simply mixing up your meals. These small changes can lead to bold improvements in how you feel and operate throughout the day.

Stay hydrated

A common symptom of dehydration is fatigue—but you might not even realize it’s happening to you! Never miss out on taking in plenty of water throughout the day. Not only does a cold glass of water have the ability to wake you up on the spot—regularly having that glass can keep you feeling hydrated and replenished all day long.

Restart when necessary

If your day isn’t going the way you had hoped—and you feel tired enough to pack up and call it a day—consider a restart! The mid-afternoon can be your chance to reevaluate your tasks for the day and refocus your energy toward new priorities. You can mark it off by beginning this time period with a tasty lunch or, of course, your favorite coffee beverage.
