Embracing Acts of Kindness

Embracing Acts of Kindness

You don’t need lots of time, money or planning to do something nice—often, those spontaneous, spur-of-the-moment acts of kindness really make all the difference in the world.

In honor of National Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 17th, we’re sharing a few of our favorite ways to spread some kindness amongst friends, family, neighbors, strangers and more. Take a look.

Hold the door

While it’s probably a habit by now, it never hurts to revisit those classic displays of kindness—like, for example, holding the door for those behind you! It’s easy to do, and is sure to inspire someone else to be just as kind and polite later on.

Start a chain reaction

Speaking of inspiration, why not start a chain reaction? You might not think you can affect too many people’s outlook at once, but see what happens when you pass kindness on—by paying for the car behind you at the drive-through, refilling the office coffee pot, or simply smiling as you pass by a colleague. You never know what little act of kindness will elicit a ripple effect that brightens the day of everyone around you—and, of course, your own!

Hand out compliments

You can never give out too many compliments in one day. When you show some praise for anything from a nice, new shirt to a job well done, you’re instilling a trend of positivity that is sure to stick around.

Help out a furry friend

On Kindness Day, you can be nice to animals, too! Spend some extra time playing fetch with Fido, or leaving some milk for the cats near your neighborhood.

Send a special message

Whether it’s a short and sweet “good morning” to start the day, or an email to a friend you haven’t seen in a while, special messages can serve as the ultimate act of kindness for friends and family members alike. They show that you’re thinking about your loved ones, and are sure to elicit lots of smiles.

Put your gifts to work

What’s your special “something?” Whether it’s a knack for design or a bona fide green thumb, you can put your talent to good use by helping a friend or family member in need with a special project.

Tell a joke

Jokes can be kind, too! They bring about smiles and laughs, and are easy to share with your loved ones—so try them out, the good ones and the cheesy ones, too, and brighten up your surroundings.

Give a “just because” gift

Giving meaningful gifts is not just for the holiday season! While shopping at Christmastime might be stressful, giving small, special tokens throughout the year is anything but. Surprise a friend, family member or coworker with a Peach Valley gift card, or take them out to lunch “just because.” The surprise is sweet enough—the promise of a delicious meal makes it all the more enjoyable.

What’s your favorite way to share some kindness? We’d love to hear it! Be sure to practice it and other meaningful ideas, this February and all year round.
