Enjoy Winter Weather in Port Orange

Cool weather and holiday cheer are in the air—so get outdoors and enjoy it! Today, we’re taking a look at a few fun ways to savor quality time and fresh air in the season ahead. Just read on to learn more.

Stroll along the Riverwalk

One of the easiest ways to enjoy an afternoon in Port Orange is to stroll along the Riverwalk. Soak in the breeze and saltwater in the air, and relish the cool weather with a cup of coffee or hot cocoa to go. You can even grab a friend (even a four-legged friend!) to enjoy the experience with you.

Bring your furry friend to the beach

Speaking of furry friends…

Taking your dog to the beach is a great way to enjoy the winter weather! Even when it’s a little too chilly to swim, you can play catch, jog around, or kick back and relax as Fido has a blast digging in the sand. (Tip: Even though it’s cooler outside, it is still important to stay hydrated! Grab a bottle of water for you and a bottle and bowl for your pet before heading out the door.)

Of course, not every beach is open to pets, so be sure to choose the perfect spot. Fortunately, New Smyrna Beach has a great one! Smyrna Dunes Park welcomes leashed pets and offers a quiet, natural escape and beautiful views to boot. Swing by and spend the afternoon playing around or watching the waves. You can even bring a beach blanket to stay extra warm and cozy—and be sure to invite your other fur baby parents, too, to enjoy the day!

Discover one-of-a-kind local history

Port Orange abounds with local history to learn about—and fortunately, on beautifully brisk days, you don’t need to stay cooped up in a museum to see it! Step into history at outdoor destinations like the Dunlawton Sugar Mill Gardens, where you can enjoy a lush natural escape as well as vestiges of 19th-century Port Orange and even pieces of an old dinosaur theme park!

Enjoy a walk through nature

There are scenic natural vistas to enjoy just about anywhere you look in Port Orange, and one of our favorites happens to be Spruce Creek Park! This lush escape features a boardwalk, more than three miles of nature trails and an observation tower from which you can enjoy sweeping views of the marshes below.

Have a backyard picnic

You don’t need to travel far to enjoy a beautiful afternoon outdoors! In fact, your very own backyard might just be the perfect place to host a picnic with family and friends. Pick up your favorite Peach Valley dishes to-go, gather some great company and throw down a bunch of beach blankets for an easygoing afternoon. If you have a fire pit, it can even turn into a warm, crackling backyard bonfire come dusk, and take on an atmosphere that reminds you of your favorite Christmas song, with “marshmallows for toasting…” and “scary ghost stories…” ‘round the fire.

Whether you’re hitting the beach or stepping into local history, stay fueled with Peach Valley Café Port Orange! We’re serving up warm, comfort-food dishes—from Chili to Chicken & Waffles—that are sure to pair perfectly with the adventure ahead.
