Peach Valley’s Summertime Checklist

Peach Valley’s Summertime Checklist

There’s still plenty of summer left to enjoy—beaches to comb, pools to swim and gorgeous Florida vistas to “ooh” and “ah” at.

To help you do and see it all, we’ve compiled a list of some of our top activities to try. Take a look.

Take a staycation…

… or a daycation! The two modern terms both refer to quick getaways from home—even if you’re not actually traveling far from home. For a great staycation, spend the night in a nearby city you don’t get to explore enough. For a daycation, call a hotel near you—maybe one with a beach view—and see if they offer a day pass for enjoying the pool and facilities! You can get the sense of travel and laidback comfort, even without checking your bags.

Go swimming somewhere new

You deserve some time in the water this summer! Even if you don’t check into a hotel, spend some time by your backyard pool and turn it into a resort destination of its own—serve up poolside drinks in plastic tumblers, play your favorite music and enjoy the day!

Even without a backyard pool, you can enjoy the simple pleasure of swimming this summer. In Central Florida especially, springs offer the perfect solution to summertime heat—Blue Spring and Alexander Springs are just a few of our favorites.

Grow a garden

If your idea of a great summer involves some gourmet fun, treat yourself to an herb-and-veggie garden! Growing your own ingredients will help make your next meal taste that much fresher, sweeter and stronger—so that green thumb is certainly worth the effort.

Attend a Florida festival

Thanks to its year-round great weather and medley of cultures, Florida is a top destination for festivals—and this summer is no exception. Coming up in August, we have everything from the 24th Annual Harvest Grape Stomp in Clermont to the Mount Dora Seafood Festival, where you can enjoy fresh Florida fish surrounded by a lively al fresco atmosphere.

Collect natural treasures

Why not spend some time at the beach this summer? This classic Florida pastime is even more fun when you’re on a mission. Go combing for coastal treasures like sea glass and seashells, the latter of which is especially abundant on Florida’s West Coast, at the dreamy destination of Sanibel Island.

Grill out

Would it be summer without a good-old-fashioned barbecue? Get the crew together and grill up the classics… but don’t be afraid to try something new along the way, too, like grilled watermelon, mangoes or tomatoes for a smoky addition to your burgers!

Splash around with Fido

If you’ve got a four-legged friend, you’re sure to love some outdoor fun this summer. In this warm weather, you can’t go wrong with a trip to a pup-friendly park with water access, like the beloved dog beach over at Smyrna Dunes Park.

Have a family picnic

As we wrap up National Picnic Month, and days are as long as ever, there’s never been a better time to enjoy a family picnic! Head to your favorite waterfront spot or a park with lots of shade—pack a picnic or pre-order some delicious Peach Valley catering for a meal you’re sure to love.

Enjoy a sunrise-to-sunset day

Florida is home to beautiful sunrises and sunsets—all it takes to see them both is a trek from coast to coast! Catch the sunrise in Ormond Beach and cap off your day over at Crystal River—or venture on a South Florida destination, traveling from Miami to a breezy Florida Keys destination with a Gulf Coast view. No matter where you roam, this day is sure to be filled with fun (and gorgeous views) for the whole family.

See the coast in an all-new way

Looking for some perspective? We can’t think of a better way to get it than by soaring above Florida’s shoreline. Climb the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse and see the beauty of the horizon like never before… or catch an aerial view from one of the region’s popular helicopter tour options. Any of these adventures is sure to result in a summertime memory you won’t soon forget.

Which activities can you check off your list already—and which are you most excited to try? Wherever you roam this summer, you can always round back to Peach Valley for food, family and fun… the anchors of any great adventure.
